Muurikka BBQ Family
The Muurikka pan is so established that any pan of this type is simply called “Muurikkapannu” in Finnish, and one can be found at nearly every farm and summer cottage. At Edea, we helped Muurikka redesign and develop a new family of BBQs surrounding the iconic pan.
By re-using elements and parts across multiple sizes and products, we created a family of products that are as easy to produce for the manufacturer as they are to assemble and use by the end consumer.

Muurikka pans are big and heavy, and require a heat source and windshield at a comfortable height. Our design features the same D-profile legs on all the basic sets, making them easy to assemble and keep the structure steady for cooking.
At the top of the legs, it is possible to place accessories such as side tables, tool holders and lid holders. This lets each customer decide what they need the most for their setup, and create a cooking platform that suits their needs.
Since the grill sets are used outside and endure many seasons, we wanted to emphasize the technical construction rather than to hide it away. Brass details and nozzles are common in gas burners and piping, so we mirror these details in other custom parts, for example the spacers keeping the legs away from the heatshield.
The same grill setup can be used for a number of different pans and setups, and we helped Muurikka design a pizza module, suspending a pizza stone and a spacer on top of a custom designed iron grill.
