Laika the lamp

Part of my thesis project at IDAS, this is a versatile lamp suitable for contemporary spaces. Sick of seeing multifunctional objects everywhere promising to adapt anywhere but instead just being mediocre wherever they go, I designed Laika to be herself wherever she is placed.

The core idea was to make a lamp suitable for many situations and interiors, without boasting pre-defined functions. I wanted a minimal solution that would be easy to produce and utilize. The lamp head can slide up, down and around the metal body, so the functionality of the light comes directly from the gesture.
